Help keep Kansas City Raceway from being shut-down (26 HQ Photos) Posted: 08 Nov 2011 07:12 PM PST Please help save or drag strip! Kansas City International Raceway is being sold to the city of Kansas City under duress, to build a park. Councilwoman Cindy Circo lied to the mayor of Kansas City and the local news stations by stating the track owners approached the city to sell it to them. She also stated that no one was pushing them to sell it and they had not been threatened to have the land condemned. All of this is untrue, and I provide proof here. click Here
This letter to the owners of KCIR surfaced which proved she lied to the city council and the mayor. It details proceedings to condemn the property, leaving them with no other choice but to sell it, or be stuck with a worthless piece of land they could not do business on, or sell to anyone else.
The city has tried to force our track (which has been here since 1967 by the way) out of business before. Several high rollers in the area purchased land in the area and then found out they would be worthless with a noise producing track nearby. This includes approx 27 acres owned by Senator Claire McCaskill. Guess which senator Cindy Circo is a strong supporter of. Also, a home near the track was purchased by Christine Kemper. The Kempers are probably the biggest name in Kansas City. Ever hear of Kemper Arena? The bulk of the track's problems started a few years ago when she purchased this home and began complaining about the noise. The city tried to close the track down to satisfy her back then, but only succeeded in slapping them with a 10pm curfew.
This is a blatant example of government corruption that is going to close down a tax revenue generating business of over 40 years to further line the pockets of a few crooked politicians and wealthy land owners. Let's also not forget the money and tax generated by racers from out of town spending their money at other local area businesses, as well as the many chassis and engine building shops in the area that survive because there is a race track in town. Please help us save our track. Too many other drag strips have met the same fate across the country. If you wouldn't mind taking just a few minutes to please sign this petition, it would be greatly appreciated.
Every signature on that petition sends a letter directly to the MO State Senate, MO State House, and the City of Kansas City. Please help us flood them with letters to stop this from moving forward. Click Here for petition |
